My grampa had to go into emergency surgery because of internal bleeding (side note, he’s 87 years old so we didn’t know if he would even make it out), and immediately after, I got the chance to say hi and tell him I loved him. While I was leaving he softly says, “I love you, too” I was instantly in tears, but then came more. I was waiting outside his room so my dad could talk to him, and my dad came out saying my Grampa  wanted to talk with me again. First off, this was 10 minutes after his surgery and he was TALKING. And what he wanted to talk about what how my college decisions were coming along.

Of all things, he should have been thinking of his health..but he wanted to know how things were going for me. 

I’m truly humbled by this experience, and I honestly think I have the best Grampa a girl could ask for.
